An Undiscovered Pearl in Peterborough.

Sable & Sage is a small business in Peterborough, Ontario that creates handmade home decor that would like to expand its customer base. 
 

The only way for their customers to purchase an item is through messaging the owner on their social media platforms, Facebook and Instagram.

The main goals for this project are to clarify and define each platform; Instagram, Facebook and Website and create a more efficient process for ordering products that will ultimately lead to an increase in exposure.

Research Findings

More Enlightenment, Customization, Convenience.

Women at 28-40 and home decor lovers were defined as target users who represent existing and potential customers. Surveys and interviews were arranged to create profiles whose goals and characteristics represent the needs of the target groups. Quotes from the research:

“Perhaps it would be helpful to have a direct product link from Instagram posts for items that allow for purchase from the website and that indicate estimated price!”~ survey response

“Not enough variety of products displayed. Sable & Sage shall show more products on Facebook and Instagram. It seems that just 1-2 items are available.” ~ survey response

“I love taking a break from the hustle and sketching something

with my own hands! It's important to have a quality product with the option to customize.” ~ interview response

The ordering process of Sable & Sage needs to be enhanced for the customers. This process can be made easier with the help of a company website that supports e-commerce.
 

Sable & Sage has an appealing visual design that excites its users and encourages them to make purchases through their Instagram. However, this presence can be increased and improved with the help of a social media strategy and content plan, both of which will endeavour to increase the footfall of Sable & Sage’s social media profiles to increase the market awareness.

Sable & Sage is passionate about creating quality products and pays extreme attention to detail. However:

 

  • They don't have a website for e-commerce.

  • Potential customers have limited information on their background and strengths, such as the quality of the raw materials and craftsmanship. Besides, it's hard to identify the products and services available.

  • The only way for their customers to purchase an item is through messaging the owner on their social media platforms. It's a time-consuming process for the back-and-forth communication on the customization requirements.

A Convenient and Personalized Online Order Experience.

 

The website is an interactive one-stop shop for everything an individual customer required. Interactive videos and reels are incorporated to tell the story of Sable & Sage's beliefs, quality, and seasonal production. Customers can find the product category, ordering process, and customer feedback. They can also customize and order home decor in a few clicks. For Sable & Sage, their biggest opportunity is their business’s capability to make custom designs and products for their users. Currently, customizations are made using the chat feature on their social media profiles. In the future, interactive elements on the website can help aid the users in building their own custom designs on the website itself.
